Today’s featured tech tip….
How to check the ‘health’ status of your laptop’s battery
As with any battery, the battery in your laptop won’t last forever. There will for sure come a time when you’ll need to replace it if you keeping using your laptop long enough.
If you’ve had your laptop for a while you might be wondering how well its battery is faring right now.
Both MacBooks and Windows laptops come with tools that allow you to view the current state of the battery’s ‘health’ at any time.
Performing a quick health checkup on a MacBook battery couldn’t be simpler. Just follow the steps below:
1 – Click the Apple icon in the top-left corner of the screen.
2 – Click System Settings.
3 – Click Battery in the left-hand sidebar.
4 – Look for the Battery Health info over on the right.
The process of viewing a Battery Life Report on a Windows laptop is a little more complicated than it is on a MacBook, but it’s still fairly easy. Just follow these steps:
1 – Click the Start button.
Type the letters cmd and then select Command Prompt from the list of search results.
2 – Type (or copy and paste) the following after the command prompt, and then press the Enter key:
powercfg /batteryreport
You should now see a message telling you which folder Windows saved the Battery Life Report in.
3 – Press the Windows+E key combination to open a ‘File Explorer’ window.
4 – Follow the path listed in step 2 above to navigate to the folder containing the newly-created Battery Life Report.
5 – Double-click on the battery-report.html file to open it in your laptop’s default web browser.
That’s all there is to it. Now you know how to view the current health status of your laptop’s battery at any time.

Do you know the differences between a graveyard and a cemetery?
Contrary to popular belief, they are very different things.
