Today’s Quick Tip….
How to run a Safety Check on your Chrome browser
Does your Chrome browser have all the latest security updates installed?
Are any of the browser extensions you’re using with Chrome known to be malicious in any way?
If you allow Chrome to store your passwords (which isn’t something I recommend), are they strong enough to protect your online accounts from hackers?
Well, there’s an easy way to find the answers to those questions…
Chrome is equipped with a handy “Safety Check” tool that will check all of those things for you with just a few clicks (or taps) and then give you a report of its findings.
This tool is very easy to use. Just follow the steps below for the device you’re using.
If you’re using Chrome on a laptop or desktop computer:
1 – Open Chrome and click the Customize and control icon in the top-right corner of the window (it looks like three vertical dots).
2 – Click Settings.
3 – In the left-hand pane, click Privacy and security.
4 – In the right-hand pane, find the “Safety check” section and click the Check now button.
If you’re using the Chrome app on a mobile device:
1 – Open the Chrome app and tap the Customize and control icon in the top-right corner of the window (it looks like three vertical dots).
2 – Tap Settings.
3 – Scroll down and tap Safety check.
4 – Tap the Check now button.
That’s all there is to it. Chrome should now run a series of safety checks and display a summary of the results when it’s done.
