Today’s Quick Tip….
Let your Edge browser read articles aloud to you
Do you ever wish you could just close your eyes and have someone read an article that interests you in spoken voice?
Well, you might not not be able to afford to hire someone to read your articles to you, but the Edge browser on your laptop or desktop computer will do it for free.
And best of all, it’s easy to use. Here’s how:
1 – Open the article you want to hear in your Edge browser.
2 – Either press the F9 key or click the Enter Immersive Reader icon located on the right end of the address bar (it looks like an open book with a speaker on it).
3 – Click the Read aloud link on the menu bar near the top of the browser window.
That’s all there is to it. Edge should now start reading the article to you in a friendly, easy-to-understand voice.
To exit Reader mode simply repeat the action you took in step 2 above.
Note: The Edge mobile browser has a ‘Read aloud’ feature as well, but I can’t really recommend it because it doesn’t work all that well (it seems to be hit or miss, with more misses than hits).
But feel free to give it a try if you want. You might end up being pleasantly surprised.
