Today’s featured tech tip….
Simple tip for making your phone’s battery last longer
Can you guess which part of your smartphone uses the most battery “juice”? Yep, it’s the screen. In fact, the screen consumes more power than any other component in your phone by far.
Well, today I’m going to share a little secret with you: The brighter the screen, the more current it draws from the battery.
Therefore, you can make your phone’s battery charge last longer simply by dimming the screen.
Yeah, I know. I enjoy having a bright screen too. And truth be told, I keep my phone’s screen pretty bright most of the time.
But if you ever have reason to believe that your phone’s battery will die before you’ll have a chance to plug it into a charger, you can extend the battery charge simply by dimming the screen.
This is very easy to do on both Androids and iPhones. Just open the Display settings in your phone’s “Settings” app and lower the Brightness setting to the point where you can just barely still read it without having to strain.
Bonus tip: You can manually adjust the brightness throughout the day as the level of ambient light changes. For example, if you’re using your phone in a dark room you might be surprised just how low you can set the brightness level and still comfortably use the device.
