Today’s featured tech tip….
How to restart Chrome without losing your open tabs
Have you ever been viewing a web page in your Chrome browser when some glitch occurred, forcing you to close the browser and then relaunch it?
If so, you probably had to look for the pages that were open before and then reopen them, one by one.
Well, I’m going to give you a handy tip for restarting a glitchy Chrome browser and having it automatically relaunch with the previous browser tabs already open. Just follow the steps below:
1 – With Chrome open on your screen, open a new tab by clicking the + (plus sign) located on the far-right side of the tab row.
2 – Type (or copy and paste) the following into the address bar:
chrome://restart
3 – Press the Enter key.
That’s all there is to it. Chrome will now close and then relaunch with all of your previous browser tabs already open.
Just close the blank tab and the others will be right there waiting for you.
By the way, if you find yourself using this procedure to restart Chrome on a regular basis you can easily create a Bookmark for the restart procedure. Here’s how:
1 – Click the Customize and control icon in the top-right corner of the Chrome window (it looks like three vertical dots).
2 – Click Bookmarks and lists>Bookmark manager.
3 – Click the three dots located on the far right beside the “Search bookmarks” field.
4 – Click Add new bookmark.
5 – Type Restart Chrome into the “Name” field.
6 – Type (or copy and paste) the following into the “URL” field:
chrome://restart
7 – Click Save.
You should now have a brand new bookmark on Chrome’s Bookmarks bar.
Just click that bookmark every time you need to restart Chrome and the browser will close and then relaunch with all your previously open tabs restored.
