Today’s featured tech tip….
How to whitelist an email address in Gmail
If you use Gmail you probably receive messages from certain senders that often end up in the Spam folder even though you want them to always land in your Inbox.
Truth be told, Gmail has one of the best Spam filters in the business. But still, it isn’t perfect, so some legitimate emails still end up being Spammed for whatever reason.
Luckily, there’s a way to ensure that the emails from senders you trust will (almost) always skip the Spam folder and land in your Inbox: You can “whitelist” those senders’ email addresses.
I say “almost” always because, well…like I said, Gmail is good, but it isn’t perfect.
Anyway, here are instructions for whitelisting an email address in Gmail with a computer or mobile device (choose the procedure that matches your device.
If you use Gmail in a web browser on a laptop or desktop computer:
1 – Open Gmail in your browser and click the “gear” shaped Settings icon on the far-right side of the Search bar.
2 – Click See all settings.
3 – Select Filters and Blocked Addresses from the top menu bar.
4 – Click the Create a new filter link.
5 – Type (or copy and paste) the email address you want to whitelist into the From field.
6 – Click Create filter.
7 – Check the box beside Never send it to Spam.
8 – Click the Create filter button.
If you use the Gmail app on an Android device:
1 – Open the Contacts app.
2 – Tap the + (plus sign) to add a new contact.
3 – Enter the email address you want to whitelist into the Email field.
Note: You can also enter any other info that you’d like to save for this contact, but the email address isn’t optional.
4 – Tap the Save button.
That’s all there is to it. From now on the emails you receive from the whitelisted email address should go into your Gmail Inbox instead of the Spam folder.

Although they aren’t perfect, whole house surge protection devices provide the best protection possible from lightning strikes and other types of strong power surges.
