Monthly Tech Giveaway….
Long-time subscribers to my daily Rick’s Tech Tips Newsletter will remember that I used to feature a monthly Tech Gadget Giveaway that all active subscribers were eligible to win.
I ended up having to suspend that giveaway due to the onset of the Covid pandemic, but now is the time to bring it back – better than ever.
The prizes featured in the new giveaway will include a combination of items I received for testing and review and brand new items that will provided directly by partner companies.
Winners will be selected at random. All Standard subscribers have an equal chance to win. All Premium subscribers have two chances (their email addresses are added to the pot twice).
November’s winner will receive a Brother DCPL2550DW Multifunction Monochrome Laser Printer, Scanner and Copier. Click here for details.

Today’s featured tech tip….
Can you really trust your computer backup plan?
Did you know there’s a simple way to ensure that you never lose your most important and most precious irreplaceable files?
Here’s the secret, in a nutshell…
Back up your backups.
Any seasoned IT pro will tell you that you should never trust your most important files to a single onsite backup.
Instead, make a second backup and, if possible, store it offsite in a different physical location. This is known as creating redundant backups, and they’ve saved a lot of folks’ proverbial bacon over the years.
Whether you choose to save your duplicate backups onto a second external hard drive and store it at a trusted friend’s house or simply back up your files to a cloud storage account, you can rest assured that you’ll be able to recover your precious files if a fire or some other disaster ever destroys your primary backup medium.
Unfortunately, backup files are lost or destroyed all the time, but it probably won’t happen to you if you prepare ahead of time by creating duplicate backups and storing them in separate locations.
