Today’s featured tech tip….
Do this instead of trashing your old computers
Do you have a stack of old computers in your basement that’s just gathering dust and taking up space?
If so, you might be tempted to just trash them, but did you know you can actually sell them for scrap?
Well, it’s true. You can haul those old machines to your nearest recycling center and trade them for a little cash.
And when I say “a little cash”, I mean exactly that.
The prices paid for used computers vary quite a bit from region to region, but the most you’re likely to get is about 10 bucks each or thereabouts. In other words, you won’t get rich by recycling your old computer gear.
But one thing you’ll definitely accomplish is keeping them out of the landfill where their caustic chemicals could leak out into the water supply.
That alone is reason enough to skip the landfill and haul your old computers to a recycling center instead.
Just remember to remove the hard drive(s) or SSD(s) from the machines and physically destroy them before taking them to the recycling center.

Rick’s Daily Pick…
Regular readers of this newsletter and my tech blog know I’m a huge fan of the small brick-sized (more or less) PCs that have been on the market for a while now.
This little gem has all the power of a mid-range desktop computer but takes up just a fraction of the desk space.
Today’s post from ‘My Daily Smile’…
Q&A: Why don’t we see used UPS trucks on the highway?
This post has the answer.
Tech news that caught my eye…

• NVIDIA plans to take on Intel by manufacturing its own CPUs
• California halts Cruise’s self-driving cars citing risk to public safety
• 1Password discloses security incident linked to Okta breach
• Apple lines up to support nationwide right-to-repair legislation
