Today’s featured tech tip….
Security software erroneously blocking my blog posts
I’ve received several reports from users of AVG and Malwarebytes that those security apps are blocking access to my blog’s Tech Tips posts, supposedly due to my blog being a phishing site. I can assure you that it is not.
I have thoroughly checked the blog and ran a plethora of security scans on it and it’s completely “clean” and safe.
Besides, there are no forms on the site that could be used for phishing in the first place. The only form on the entire site is the signup form for this very newsletter.
My guess is there is some snippet of code in the newly-released update to WordPress that’s triggering a false “malware” flag.
I have contacted both AVG and Malwarebytes asking them to quickly get this sorted out. In the meantime I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience these “false positives” are causing. Hopefully AVG and Malwarebytes will get this fixed ASAP.
Thanks for understanding, and thanks a bunch for reading my newsletters. Much appreciated!
