Today’s featured tech tip….
How to quickly find most any Windows setting
Both Windows 10 and Windows 11 have numerous system settings you can change to make your PC work more to your liking.
The thing is, those settings aren’t all located in one place where they’re easy to find.
For example, some settings are tucked away deep inside the Settings app.
Others can be found somewhere in the Control Panel.
And still others are hidden away someplace in the nether regions of your Windows installation.
Luckily, you don’t have to go searching through a dozen menus in order to find most any setting you need to access.
Instead, you can simply use the Windows “Search” tool. Here’s how:
1 – Click on the Start button to display the Start menu.
2 – Type the settings family you’re looking for.
For example, if you’re looking for a display related setting, simply type display settings.
Or if you’re looking for a sound related setting, just type sound settings.
If you need to change a mouse setting, type mouse settings.
You get the picture…
3 – Scan the list of search results for the specific setting you need to access. Once you find it, just click on it to open it.
Better still, you can also type the specific setting you’re looking for directly.
For example, if you want to change the size of the mouse pointer, simply type mouse pointer size.
If you want to add a new user account to the machine, type add user.
As you can see, using the Windows “Search” tool is the fastest way to find most any setting that’s available in Windows unless you’ve used it enough in the past to remember exactly how to find it.
Just click the Start button and then type what you’re looking for. It’ll almost always pop right up.
