Reminder: Fast charging requires a fast charging cable
Many modern devices such as mobile phones and tablets support fast charging technology.
If you have one or more devices that support fast charging you probably know you’ll need to have a charger with fast charging capability in order to take advantage of it. But what you might not know is you’ll need a compatible USB cable that supports fast charging as well.
Just because a cable fits into the connectors on both the charger and the device that doesn’t necessarily it can be used to fast charge the device.
USB cables are rated for their charging speeds as well as for their data transfer speeds, and the speed at which your device(s) can charge will be limited to the maximum charging speed supported by the cable(s).
If it seems like it takes forever for a device to charge even though both the device and charger support fast charging, the culprit is likely the cable. In most situations like this a new USB cable that’s rated for fast charging should speed things up quite a bit.
It’s easy to determine which USB cables support fast charging because it’ll say so right on the sales page and/or product package.
