Today’s quick tech tip….
How (and why) to quickly print out your PC’s system info
If you have a Windows PC there might come a time when you’ll need to contact Tech Support for a piece of hardware or software you’re using with your machine.
And as you probably know, the tech you’ll end up speaking to will likely ask you some questions about the hardware that’s inside the PC and which specific version of Windows that’s running on it.
While you could always pull up that info on the screen when the tech asks for it, it would be much simpler if you had it all printed out instead.
Luckily, Windows 11 makes it real easy to capture that info right from the System Information screen and print it out with NotePad.
Here’s a short video that shows how to make that printout, step-by-step:
Note: You can watch this video at full screen by clicking the little “square” icon in the lower-right corner of the video after it begins playing.
If you prefer following written instructions, here you go…
First, you need to get the System Info displayed on the screen.
If you have the “This PC” icon on your desktop, just right-click on it and select Properties from the menu.
If you don’t have the “This PC” icon on your desktop, simply right-click the Start button and select Settings from the menu, then scroll down and click About in the right-hand pane.
Once you have the System Info on the screen, click the Copy button in the “Device specifications” field.
Now open Notepad and paste the info you just copied into it.
Now return to the System Info and click the Copy button in the “Windows specifications” field, then paste that info into Notepad underneath the info that’s already there.
Finish up by selecting File>Print from the NotePad menu to create a hard copy of your PC’s System Info.
