Today’s quick tech tip….
How to make your HomePod stop listening for ‘Hey, Siri’
Do you have an iPhone or iPad that’s running a recent version of iOS?
If so, you probably know you can temporarily prevent Siri from responding to ‘Hey, Siri’ voice prompts by simply laying the device face down.
But what if you own an Apple HomePod?
Well, you can tell it to stop listening for ‘Hey, Siri’ as well. And truth be told, it’s extremely easy.
All you have to do is say ‘Hey Siri, stop listening‘. Siri will ask you to confirm that choice and then immediately stop listening.
To reverse that and have Siri start listening again, simply press and hold the HomePod’s touch surface to trigger Siri and then say ‘Start listening’.
That’s all there is to it. Now you know how to tell Siri to put in a pair of virtual earplugs without having to use the Home app on your iPhone, iPad or other Apple device.
