Today’s quick tech tip….
How to view a web page’s source code with Chrome
If you use the Internet a lot, there might come a time when you’ll need to view a web page’s source code for some reason.
In a nutshell, the source code is the raw code a browser receives when a page is requested from a web server. The browser then takes that raw code and converts it into the pretty, user-friendly web page that’s actually displayed in the browser tab.
The thing is, malicious websites can hide dangerous code behind the scenes. If you have suspicions about a page you can always check the source code for references or links to content that you’d really rather not engage with.
What’s more, there might even come a time when you need to view the source code of the pages on your own website (to see if it has been hacked, for example).
Luckily, Google’s Chrome browser makes it extremely easy to view a page’s source code.
All you have to do is right-click on a blank area of the page and select View page source from the menu.
