Today’s quick tech tip….
Q&A: How do I screenshot just part of the screen in Ubuntu Linux?
Question from Mike: I recently installed Ubuntu Linux on one of my old computers just so I could play around with it. It’s really cool.
My question is about capturing screenshots.
I know I can press the PrintScreen key and capture the entire screen but I’m wanting to capture just a part of the screen instead. How do I do that?
Rick’s answer: Mike, Ubuntu has a handy app called Screenshot that will let you capture the entire screen, just the current window, or any section of the screen that you select. And luckily, this app is very easy to use. Here’s how:
1 – Open the Utilities folder and launch the Screenshot app.
2 – Select the part of the screen you want to capture in your screenshot.
3 – Click the Take Screenshot button.
4 – Now you can either copy the screenshot to the Clipboard or save the screenshot as an image file (if you choose this option you’ll find the screenshot image in the Pictures folder).
That’s all there is to capturing a screenshot containing just a selected portion on the screen in Ubuntu, Mike.
