Today’s quick tech tip….
Q&A: How can I stop my iPhone from waking me up at night?
Question from Marla: My iPhone frequently wakes me up at night with people calling wrong numbers and all kinds of other craxy stuff, and it drives me nuts.
I try to remember to always turn it off at night, but sometimes I forget to do it.
Is there a setting I can change to prevent my iPhone from making any sounds while I’m trying to sleep?
Rick’s answer: Marla, your iPhone has a “Do Not Disturb” setting that’s probably just what you’re looking for. Here’s how to turn it on and assign the time window when the phone should remain silent:
1 – Tap the Settings icon (it looks like a “gear“).
2 – Tap Focus.
3 – Tap Do Not Disturb.
4 – Toggle the “Do Not Disturb” setting to On.
5 – Scroll down and tap Add Schedule or Automation.
6 – Tap Time.
7 – Tap on the time display in the “From” field and select the time when you usually go to bed.
8 – Tap on the time display in the “To” field and select the time when you usually wake up in the morning.
9 – Tap Done in the top-right corner of the screen.
That’s all there is to it. You should now be able to sleep through the night without being awakend by your iPhone.
