Today’s quick tech tip….
Faulty Windows Updates are teaching us all a valuable lesson
If you’ve been using Windows PCs for a while you’re probably well aware of all the problems that have been caused of late by faulty Windows Updates.
Millions of users have seen their PCs affected by issues ranging from printer failure to the computer’s ability to even successfully boot up into Windows.
Occasional bad updates have always plagued Windows users, but the problem got a lot worse after Microsoft released Windows 10.
And unfortunately, the release of Windows 11 didn’t help all that much.
Like I said above, you’re probably already aware of this, so why did I mention it here?
Well, because these bad experiences with the Windows Update process help drive home the importance of creating frequent backups of your PC’s hard drive or SSD.
While most buggy updates can be uninstalled, thereby fixing the problem(s) caused by them, some of the more severe ones cannot.
But there’s good news as well…
If you have a recent backup on hand you’ll be able to recover from a catastrophic Windows failure caused by a faulty update with just a few clicks of your mouse.
These posts explain how to create System Image backups in the most recent versions of Windows.
There are also several really good third-party backup solutions out there as well. The important thing is to choose one and use it on a regular basis.
If you haven’t been backing up your PC on a regular basis, this is an excellent time to start.
