Today’s quick tech tip….
How (and why) to report fraudulent ads on Facebook
If you’ve been using Facebook for a while you’ve surely seen a bunch of shady-looking ads popping up in your newsfeed and over in the sidebar.
You know the types of ads I’m talking about. Here are a few typical examples:
“Dell made too many of these laptops and now we’re closing them out for only $89.”
“We’re blowing these overstock DeWalt drill sets out for just $39. Home Depot’s loss is your gain.”
“We’re your #1 source for discount Ray-Ban sunglasses. Buy now for only $9.95 and save big.”
Unfortunately, these types of scammy ads are all over Facebook, and lots of innocent people are getting taken in by them.
That’s why it’s a good idea to report every fraudulent ad you see so Facebook can (hopefully) take them down before too many folks have lost their money and had their credit card info stolen.
Luckily, it’s very easy to report a fraudulent Facebook ad. Simply click (or tap) the three dots over on the right and then click (or tap) Report ad.
