Today’s quick tech tip….
Q&A: How do I change the time zone in Windows 11?
Question form Melissa: A while back my computer updated to Windows 11 all on its own. I just woke up one morning and found out it had updated sometime during the night.
I’ve finally gotten used to Windows 11 but I can’t figure out how to make it display the right time. It’s always one hour ahead. For example, if it’s 6pm here in Nashville the computer will say it’s 7pm.
How do I fix this? It’s really no big deal but for some reason it really annoys me.
Rick’s answer: I’ll be glad to help you fix this, Melissa. And yes, I can certainly understand why you would find it annoying.
Luckily, this is a very simple fix. Just follow the steps below:
1 – Click the Start button, then type the words time zone.
2 – Select Change the time zone from the list of search results.
3 – Click on the currently selected time zone and select the correct time zone for your location.
Note: You said you are in Nashville so this is the time zone you’re looking for:
(UTC-0600) Central Time (US & Canada)
4 – Click the X in the top-right corner of the Settings app to close it.
That’s all there is to it. Your PC should now be displaying the correct time for your location.
