Today’s Quick Tip….
How to make a Facebook post ‘Shareable’
Have you ever posted something to your Facebook Timeline that you wanted your friends to share, only to discover that your post didn’t have a “Share” button on it?
Well, there’s a reason why some posts have a “Share” button on them while others don’t.
If you have the “Audience” of a post set to “Friends” the only people who will be able to that post are the people on your Friends List – and everyone on your Friends List will be able to see it by default.
Therefore there would be no reason for your friends to be able to share the post since all of your friends can see it anyway, but anyone not on your Friends list can’t.
However, if the audience of the post is set to “Public” that means anyone on Facebook can see it, in which case it would make sense for your friends to be able to share it if you goal is to widen the audience to include people you aren’t friends with.
What this all boils down to is this…
If you want your friends to be able to share one of your posts you’ll have to set that post’s audience to “Public”.
Make that simple change and the “Share” button will magically (and immediately) appear.
Just follow the steps below to make that change:
1 – Click the three dots in the top-right corner of the post you want to make shareable.
2 – Click Edit audience.
3 – Select Public.
That’s all there is to it. You’re done. Now that post should have a shiny new “Share” button.
And now, one last thing…
If you prefer keeping most of your posts limited to just the people on your Friends List you’ll want to use this tip only when you have a good reason for letting just anyone and everyone see the post.
Why? Because after you change the audience to “Public” literally anyone and everyone on Facebook will be able to see it.
The latest from Rick’s Daily Tips Tech Blog…
• Warning: Your smartphone photos can put your personal security at risk
By default, every photo you take with your smartphone has the location of the shot included in its metadata. And that could pose a very real danger.
• Scam alert: Why you should never ‘Unsubscribe’ from spam emails
It’s only natural to want to “unsubscribe” from spam emails in order to prevent the spammer from sending you more of them. But truth be told, that’s the last thing you should do. This post explains why.

Solidremote Wireless RF Remote Control Relay Switch (#ad)
Have an older garage door opener that you can’t find a replacement remote for, but otherwise still works great?
Well you don’t have to replace that opener simply because it no longer has a usable remote. This virtually dirt-cheap kit will give you working remote for it for about the cost of a pizza.
Note: I have one of these little gems controlling my own garage door opener. I wrote about my experience with it right here.
Today’s post from ‘My Daily Smile’…
Crossing the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel isn’t for the faint of heart, even during the day when the weather is perfect. Check out this video that shows what it’s like crossing it at night…in the middle of a bad winter storm.
