Today’s Quick Tip….
Speed up Chrome and save cellular data on your Android device
If you use the popular Chrome browser app on your Android phone or tablet there’s a very simple settings change that can make the web pages you view load faster while also shaving up to 60% off your data usage.
The setting you want to enable is called ‘Lite Mode’, and it’s always worked quite well for me.
Be aware that the actual speed increases and data savings you’ll enjoy will vary depending on the sites you visit and the types of content you consume, but you’re sure to notice at least some benefit regardless.
If you’d like to give Lite Mode a try, just follow the steps below to enable it in your Android device’s Chrome browser:
1 – Open the Chrome app on your device.
2 – Tap on the three dots in the top-right corner of the screen.
3 – Tap Settings.
4 – Scroll down and tap Lite mode.
5 – Activate Lite Mode by tapping the slider (it should turn from gray to blue).
Note: You can view the data savings Lite Mode is providing at any time by following steps 1-4 above.
That’s all there is to it. With Chrome now in Lite Mode, if all goes well you should start noticing faster page loads and a reduction in your device’s data usage.
Now here are a few caveats I should mention…
1 – Lite Mode isn’t available on Apple iOS devices due to system-level limitations that Apple places on third-party apps.
2 – Lite Mode doesn’t work when Chrome is in Incognito mode.
3 – Lite Mode might prevent you from accessing websites that reside on your company’s local servers (for example, your company’s internal employees-only site).
4 – In rare instances you might not be able to successfully access sites that you require you to log in.
The only way to know if #3 and/or #4 apply to you and your situation is to give it a try.
If you’re unable to access a site that you need to access with Lite Mode enabled you can always temporarily disable it and then re-enable it after you finish your session with that site.

If so, this gem from Anker will charge your phone as many as 20 times or run a portable AC-powered mini-fridge for up to five hours.
In short, you can keep all of your devices charged up while also getting some use out of your portable appliances.
