Today’s Quick Tip….
How to remotely install an app on your phone using a computer
If you have a smartphone you probably know how to install apps directly from its associated app store, but did you know you can also install apps onto the phone using your computer?
While this might sound like a complicated way to perform a simple task, it can actually come in quite handy if you find out about an app and decide to install it but you don’t have your phone handy at the time.
If you ever find yourself needing to remotely install an app to your phone using a computer just follow the steps below for the kind of phone you have.
If you have an iPhone…
The first thing you need to do is enable automatic downloads on your phone in order to allow future remote app downloads. Here’s how:
1 – Tap the Settings icon on your iPhone (it looks like a “gear” or “cog“).
2 – Scroll down and tap App Store.
3 – In the “Automatic Downloads” section, toggle the “Apps” setting to On (the slider should turn green).
When you’re ready to remotely install an app onto your phone via your computer, follow these steps:
1 – Open iTunes on your computer and log in to the Apple account that’s associated with your iPhone using that account’s Apple ID and password.
2 – Visit the iTunes Store and find the app you want to install on your iPhone, then tap the appropriate icon to install it.
If you have an Android phone…
The process of remotely installing an Android app is even easier. Simply follow these steps:
1 – Visit the Google Play Store at https://play.google.com/store/ with your computer and log into the Google account that’s associated with your Android phone.
2 – Find the app you want to install on your phone and click on its icon.
3 – Select the phone you want to install the app on from the list of connected devices.
4 – Click the Install button, then click Install again to confirm.

APC UPS 600VA Battery Backup and Surge Protector (#ad)
Well, it’s winter here in the northern hemisphere and summertime for our friends way down south.
That means regardless of where you live you can expect to have some power outages and surges come your way before long.
This high-quality battery backup/surge protector from APC can help protect your expensive computer and mobile devices from power-related damage and also keep them up and running during short-term outages.
I feature this particular model on a regular basis because I own three of them, and they’re great.
