Today’s Quick Tip….
Facebook is shutting down their creepy ‘Face Recognition’ feature
A while back I wrote a post explaining how Facebook uses a tool called “Face Recognition” to automatically tag any users their technology can manage to identify in photos, as well as how to disable it on your account if you don’t want it.
Well, after receiving tons of negative feedback about the Face Recognition feature they’ve made the decision to stop using it.
What’s more, they’ve also decided to delete their database containing facial data on over a billion users.
If you’ve never heard of this feature before you won’t have to do a thing because it’s being abandoned.
Personally, I have always found Facebook’s use of Face Recognition technology a little creepy and I’m happy to see it go away.
