Today’s Quick Tip….
How to install apps on your Android phone using a different device
Note: This tip applies to Android tablets as well as smartphones.
Have you ever seen an Android app mentioned in a blog post or an advertisement and wanted to try it, but you couldn’t because you didn’t have your phone with you at the time?
If so, you probably intended to install it at a later time only to forget about it by the time you regained possession of your phone.
Well, here’s an easy solution should that situation ever arise again…
You can actually install an app on your Android phone without using that device to do it.
If you have a computer or another mobile device handy you can use that device to install the app on your phone. And yes, the app will be installed on your phone instead of the device you’re using to install it.
Follow these steps to install an app on your Android phone (or tablet) using a different device:
1 – Open a web browser on whatever device you have available and visit the Google Play Store at this URL:
https://play.google.com/store/
2 – Sign into the Play Store with the login credentials for the same Google account your phone uses.
3 – Search for the app you want to install on your Android phone and click on it to open its page in the browser.
4 – Click the Install button.
5 – Select your phone from the list of devices that are registered with this Google account, then click Install and follow the prompts as they appear.
That’s all there is to it. After the installation process is complete you’ll find the app is installed on your phone and waiting for use the next time you pick up that device.

Pet Peeve: Offers you literally can’t refuse
I don’t mind it a bit when someone makes me an offer, but I’d really like to be given the option to decline it.
Forget your phone charger? Ask your hotel’s front desk for a loaner.
This post explains what to do the next time you check into a hotel and realize you left your phone charger at home.
