Today’s Quick Tip….
Yet another advantage of having a laptop with a USB-C connector
If it does, I strongly recommend that you keep a USB-C charging cable that mates with your smartphone charger in your laptop bag at all times.
Why? Because if you ever forget to bring your laptop’s charger along you’ll be able to use your phone charger to charge the battery in your laptop.
Granted, it’ll likely take a lot longer to fully charge your laptop using a typical phone charger, but in a pinch it just might charge it up enough to allow you to get your most essential tasks completed.
Even better, get yourself an inexpensive universal laptop charger to keep in your laptop bag as a backup.
You’ll only need to remove it from the bag in emergency situations (i.e. when you accidentally leave the primary charger at home or at the office).
If you equip your laptop bag with both a universal laptop charger and a spare USB-C charging cable you’ll be able to rest easy knowing you’ll always have multiple charging options available to you.
And now, a quick caveat…
If you’re thinking you might be able to charge your laptop via an older type USB-A port, that won’t work.
Unfortunately, it’s USB-C or nothing when it comes to charging a laptop via USB.
(Hint: You folks who own one of the newer MacBook Air or MacBook Pro laptops are all set!)
