Question from Kelly: I’ve heard it’s possible to run Android apps on a Windows computer.
I have a couple of questions:
1 – Is that true?
2 – If it is, how do I do it?
I have a couple of apps on my phone that I use a LOT and I’d love to be able to use them on my Acer laptop with Windows 10.
Rick’s answer: That’s a great question, Kelly. And as it turns out you can indeed run Android apps on a Windows PC!
There are actually several ways to accomplish this but my favorite method is to use the awesome (and free) BlueStacks Android emulator software.
And just so you’ll know, there’s a Mac version of BlueStacks as well that lets Mac owners run Android apps too.
In a nutshell, once you have BlueStacks installed and configured you’ll be able to log into your Google Play account and install the app(s) of your choice on your computer!
To get started simply visit BlueStacks.com and click the Download BlueStacks button.
The installation generally goes pretty smoothly but if you do happen to encounter a problem you can always consult the BlueStacks FAQs page.
As I mentioned above, you can use BlueStacks for free. Just be aware that the free version will require you to view ads while you’re using your Android apps.
If you’d rather skip the ads you can do so by paying for an upgrade to the premium version.
I hope this helps, Kelly. Good luck!
Update from Kelly: Thanks, Rick. BlueStacks sounds awesome. I’ll check it out.
