Question from Kendell: Hi, Rick. I’m hoping you can recommend a good web hosting plan for my blog.
I’ve had my blog for almost four years and it’s grown to the point where I’m having trouble keeping up with all the maintenance (updates, backups, etc.).
It seems like I’m spending so much time keeping the blog running that I don’t have time to write my posts anymore.
I’ve heard about the Managed WordPress hosting providers that take care of all the updates and other maintenance tasks for you and I’d really love to move my blog to one of them.
I’ve checked into several hosting companies that offer Managed WordPress hosting but they all charge according to the amount of visits your blog gets each month.
I’ve found that since my blog is currently getting around 70,000 visits per month I’d have to pay about $120 per month to get a Managed WordPress plan that can handle my blog’s traffic.
I’m willing to pay that much if I have to but that amount would really put a strain on my budget.
Can you recommend a really good Managed WordPress hosting plan that can handle my blog’s traffic but won’t cost me a fortune.
Rick’s answer: I believe you’re wise to consider moving up to Managed WordPress hosting, Kendell.
It really is more than a full-time job keeping a busy blog online and updated while also still trying to write (and promote) a steady stream of well-researched and well-written blog posts.
And I’m certainly well-aware that finding a great, yet affordable Managed WordPress host that can serve a high-traffic blog is pretty hard to do these days.
However, I do know of one “Managed WordPress” host that should be able to easily handle your blog’s current (and future) traffic level at a price that’s much lower than the $120/month that you mentioned above.
The folks at Nexcess offer several managed WordPress hosting plans at very reasonable rates, and unlike most companies offering WordPress hosting they don’t charge based upon your traffic level. Instead, their plans are priced more or less the same way traditional hosting plans are priced.
Bottom line: You don’t have to pay a king’s fortune in order to move your busy blog to a really good WordPress hosting plan. Just go with Nexcess and you’ll be all set.
Click here to check out Nexcess’ Managed WordPress hosting plans.
Important: Be aware that the large, bolded prices you’ll see listed on the screen are introductory prices. The price for each plan will go up after the introductory period has expired.
Also note that those monthly prices are based up the yearly rate which is payable in advance. If you prefer to pay by the month you’ll need to click on the “Monthly” link that’s inside the purple button in the center of the screen.
Now all of that being said, you still should be able to find a great plan that meets the needs of your blog for a lot less than $120. I just wanted to mention that to avoid any confusion should you opt to sign up for one of Nexcess’ WordPress hosting plans.
Update from Kendell: Thanks so much, Rick! I just signed up for their “Maker” plan and arranged to have them move the blog for me. I’ll let you know how it goes.
Thanks so much for helping me out like this!
