If you’ve been following this blog for a while you’ve probably figured out by now that I love technology.
No, check that – you’ve probably figured out that I REALLY love technology!
I also love sharing the things I’ve learned while working in the IT field for almost four decades as well as helping people out of jams whenever I can.
To those ends I have posted over 5,200 tech tips on this blog to date. And now I’m about to share what is likely the best tip of the lot.
What is this awesome, must-read tip you ask?
Well, it’s this…
Virtually every device you own has an “Off” button!
Yes, it’s true. Your computer has an “Off” button.
So does your tablet and smartphone.
And yes, you’ll even find one on your game console!
In fact, if it’s an electronic gadget it probably has one of these magic buttons that can temporarily transport you from the digital world to the real world, literally with the push of a button!
As much as I love using my gadgets and writing about how you can get the most out of yours, I also love getting away from technology at times to experience all the other wonderful things that life has to offer.
And you can do the same!
For example, you could…
- Go outside when the weather is nice and take a walk.
- Take a nice, long bike ride.
- Head to the park and walk your dog.
- Toss a ball back and forth with your kids.
- Take a weekend trip to your favorite beach (and leave your gadgets at home).
- Take a long drive through the countryside to experience the beauty of the autumn leaves.
Truth be told, you could do just about anything that doesn’t require the use of a display screen. Whatever you and your family enjoy will be perfect!
We live in an amazing world that everyone should experience close up, and in person on occasion.
Just so you’ll know, I’m giving this advice to myself as much as to you because I really do love technology.
There are indeed times when I have to force myself to use the magic “Off” buttons on my devices and get out and enjoy the other blessings of life.
But guess what? I do it, and I never regret it in the end. And I don’t believe you’ll regret it either.
Now don’t get me wrong. I’m not trying to tell you how to live your life.
All I’m doing is sharing another tip with you. After all, this blog is called Ricks Daily TIPS, right?
Now that all of that is out of the way, please allow me to say one last thing…
Thank you so much for following my blog, reading my posts and interacting with me on social media.
Without you I would have no reason for writing my blog posts, and I truly love writing them!
