Question from Dolly F.: I bought a Surface Pro 4 back in December and I recently started noticing a very faint, but irritating screen flicker.
I’ve tried changing pretty much all the available screen settings and installed all the latest updates but I just can’t get the flickering to stop.
This is absolutely driving me up the wall!
If you can tell me how to get this to stop you’ll be my hero lol. Thanks for your help in advance. Love your site by the way.
Rick’s answer: I’m glad you enjoy my blog Dolly, and thanks so much for the kind words. But I’m afraid I’m not destined to be your “hero”.
Unfortunately, the screen flicker you’re seeing on your Surface Pro 4 device isn’t being caused by software, therefore there’s no settings change or software update that can fix it.
Microsoft has reported that a relative handful of Surface Pro 4 devices are afflicted by this screen flickering issue, and you happened to be the unlucky recipient of one of the defective machines.
The good news is Microsoft has offered to replace all the defective devices at no cost.
They’ve set up a special web page with all the details of the exchange program that will guide you through the exchange process. You’ll find it right here.
I recommend that you arrange to have your Surface Pro 4 replaced as soon as possible to ensure a fast turn-around time.
I hope this helps, Dolly. Good luck!
