As you probably know, Microsoft allowed folks using Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 to upgrade to Windows 10 for free during the first year after it was released.
That blanket free upgrade offer ended on July 29, 2016, but Microsoft decided to allow users with a disability that requires them to use some form of assistive technology to keep receiving the free upgrades even after the July 29 cut-off date.
Well, that special offer is about expire very soon, and most people are unaware that it’s about to end.
Microsoft has announced that they’ll be ending the free Windows 10 upgrade offer for assistive technology users at the end of this year. That means if you qualify for the free upgrade you’ll need to take advantage of it before December 31 or you’ll miss out.
Bottom line: If you use some form of assistive technology such as a screen reader, a Braille screen or some other assistive device or Windows feature that makes your PC easier to use, you qualify for the free upgrade. But you must take advantage of the free upgrade offer by the end of this year!
Microsoft has been known to extend deadlines such as this in the past but I don’t really expect them to extend this one. If you qualify, act now to take advantage of it!
