Question from Chris D.: I bought a tablet with Windows 10 on it, and I love it. But there’s one thing about it that’s driving me absolutely batty.
Every time I type a character on the onscreen keyboard it makes a clicking sound, and it’s quite loud when I’m using it in class.
Can you tell me how to make it stop making those clicking sounds when I’m typing?
Rick’s answer: I’m with you on the clicking sounds, Chris. They drive me batty as well, and I can certainly understand why you don’t your virtual keyboard clicking away while you’re sitting in a quiet classroom.
Luckily, it’s very easy to disable the typing sounds on your Windows 10 tablet. Here’s how:
1 – Tap the Start button.
2 – Tap the Settings icon (it looks like a “gear” or “cog”).
3 – Tap Devices.
4 – Tap Typing.
5 – Scroll to the “Touch Keyboard” section and toggle the “Play key sounds as I type” setting to Off.
That’s all there is to it, Chris. You should no longer hear those clicking sounds as you’re typing on your tablet’s on-screen keyboard.

Update from Chris: Worked like a champ, Rick. Thanks for your help!
Bonus tip #1: Since your Windows 10 tablet likely has a fairly small screen you might also find it useful to hide the ‘Search’ box and ‘Task View’ button from the taskbar. This post explains how.
