Question from Alice D.: The hard drive in my Mac stopped working and I had to have it replaced.
When I got the computer back from the shop I realized I needed to install the driver and software for my Brother MFC-J6520DW printer.
The problem is I seem to have lost the disc. I’ve searched my office from top to bottom and I can’t find it anywhere.
Can you help me track down a copy of the software online? I’ll even buy a CD if I need to.
I love this printer and I really don’t want to replace it unless I absolutely have to.
Rick’s answer: You’re in luck, Alice. You can download a copy of the latest driver and software suite for you printer directly from the manufacturer’s website, and it won’t cost you a dime!
Just visit this page and select the version of the operating system that’s running on your machine, then click the OK button. You’ll be given a list of options for downloading your printer’s software collection.
Once you have installed the software you can (optionally) burn it onto a blank writable optical disk or copy it to a thumb drive in case you ever need to install it again.
After all, you never know when (or if) the folks at Brother might decide to remove it from their website for some reason.
I hope this helps Alice. Good luck!
Update from Alice: Thank you Rick. I downloaded the software from the link you gave me and the printer is working fine. Appreciate your help!
