Question from Ervin S.: Last night my son was using my computer (Acer All-in-One Desktop with Windows 10) to play a game on his school’s website.
At some point something must have went wrong because when I turned the computer on this morning I noticed that the taskbar had somehow been moved to the left side of the screen.
I tried to move the task bar back to the bottom of the screen but it won’t move. It’s like it’s stuck on the left-hand side. Can you tell me how to get it back on the bottom where it belongs?
Rick’s answer: It sounds like the taskbar has been moved and then locked in that position, Ervin. If so, it should be quite easy to move it back to it usual place at the bottom of the screen. Just follow these steps:
1 – Right-click on a blank area of the taskbar, then click Lock the taskbar. That should remove the check mark and allow you to reposition the task bar as you wish.
2 – Left-click on a blank area of the task bar and drag it back to the bottom of the screen while holding the mouse button down.
3 – Release the mouse button when you have the task bar back at the bottom of the screen.
4 – Right-click on the taskbar again and then click Lock the taskbar. That should restore the check mark and (hopefully) prevent the task bar from being accidentally moved again in the future.
That’s all there is to it. The taskbar should now be back at the bottom of the screen.
I hope this helps, Ervin. Good Luck!
Update from Ervin: That did the trick, Rick. Thanks!
