Millions of customers purchase ebooks for their Kindle readers from Amazon every year, but according to a recent survey a surprising number of them aren’t aware that Amazon has a 7 day return period for ebooks.
I suppose they assume that since it is a digital product similar to a music track or movie, once they buy it, they’re stuck with it. But that isn’t the case at all.
If you happen to purchase the wrong ebook by mistake, you don’t have to “just live with it” (unless you truly find it interesting and decide you’d like to keep it anyway).
Instead, return it and get your money back so you can buy the ebook you really wanted in the first place! Here’s how:
1 – Log in to your Amazon account.
2 – Hover your mouse over Account & Lists, then select Content and Devices from the drop-down menu.
3 – Click on the Actions button beside the title of the ebook you want to return.
4 – Click on Return For Refund.
5 – Select a reason for making the return, then click Return for Refund.
That’s all there is to it! The money you paid for the ebook will automatically be refunded to your account and you’ll no longer have access to the ebook.
Now, a caveat: I strongly recommend limiting your returns to those occasions when the ebook was either ordered by mistake or you feel that it wasn’t what you were led to expect.
If Amazon detects a pattern of buying ebooks and then returning them during the 7 day refund period they’ll most likely suspend your account.
