iPhone users have been complaining for years that the Facebook app drains their phone’s battery much faster than it should.
Well, after denying it for ages, Facebook has finally acknowledged that there could well be a problem and they have pledged to fix it “soon”.
Oddly, the app sucks battery juice even when users have disabled both Background App Refresh and Autoplaying Videos.
I first wrote about this issue way back in February 2015, and unfortunately it’s still with us.
It’s hard to say why it took Facebook this long to own up to this flaw in the app and agree to work on a fix, but at least they seem to finally be working on the issue.
Until a bug fix has been released to remedy the battery issue you’ll have to either just live with it or simply uninstall the Facebook app and use the Facebook Mobile Site in your iPhone’s browser instead.
Personally, I prefer the Facebook Mobile Site anyway because it actually gives me a better overall Facebook “experience”.
I recommend that you at least give the mobile site a try…
Simply open Facebook.com in your iPhone’s browser and sign in to your account. You just might discover that you prefer using the browser over the app anyway.
