Now that AC class routers have been out for a while, their prices have dropped considerably even as their wireless speeds have increased.
I recently had the opportunity to check out the TP-LINK Archer C9 AC1900 Dual Band Wireless AC Gigabit Router (#ad), and I came away very impressed.
This is a simultaneous dual-band router (2.4GHz 600Mbps and 5Ghz 1300Mbps) that also has four wired Gigabit Ethernet ports, making it an ideal router for connecting pretty much every device you own at blazing fast speeds.
The total available bandwidth supported is 1.9Gbps which should be plenty for everyone except for the most hard-core gamers.
At the heart of this router is it’s 1GHz dual-core Broadcom processor, a very capable chip that ensures fast, stable multi-user connections.
The three dual-band antennas and the router’s built-in Beamforming technology help ensure that you’ll be able to connect wirelessly from virtually any spot in your home. I was able to connect my mobile devices at close to full speed from the farthest reaches of my long ranch-style house.
Many routers these days include a single USB port for remotely sharing printers, hard drives and other devices, but this little gem comes with two of them (1 USB 3.0 Port and 1 USB 2.0 Port). I connected a WD 1GB external USB hard drive to the USB 3.0 port and the data transfer speed was quite good.
One thing I really like about this router is how you can set it up and manage it with your mobile device using the included TP-LINK Tether app. That is such a useful feature these days, and I wish every router supported it.

Bottom line: I really like this router over-all, and I find it to be a great value for the money.
While this is a super-fast router, hard-core gamers might want to look for something that provides even faster throughput (at a much higher price of course), but I believe this is an outstanding router for the average multi-device household or small office.
