Windows 10 laptops have now firmly taken over the market and I’ve had the opportunity to check a number of them out.
Today I’m going to tell you about the sleek new Toshiba Satellite C55-C5241 that I recently took for a spin.
This laptop comes equipped with a bright 15.6-inch widescreen HD 1366×768 TruBrite display, a powerful 2.2 GHz Core i5-5200U CPU, 8GB of 1600MHz DDR3 RAM and a spacious 1TB hard drive. That all adds up to plenty of power for most anyone who isn’t into competitive gaming.
While the Mobile Intel HD Graphics 5500 adapter is certainly decent, it is not gaming quality. It will easily get the job done for the typical computer user however.
One thing that I really like about this machine is the built-in optical drive, something that is becoming rarer by the day in new laptops. Lots of folks still use these tried-and-true drives, and it’s good to know that you can still buy a machine that has one built-in.
All of this and more comes packaged in a very nice textured resin finish matte black case. There are only three USB ports (1 USB 3.0 port and 2 USB 2.0 ports) but that’s probably adequate for most users.
There is an HDMI port for attaching an external monitor as well as both wired and wireless Ethernet connections. Bluetooth 4.0 is also included.
Here is a front view of the Satellite C55-C5241:
This laptop seems to be well-built and sturdy, and it doesn’t run hot under normal use like many others.
Bottom line: If you’ve been looking for a powerful, yet very affordable Windows 10 laptop, I believe this nice Toshiba is very worthy of your consideration.
