Google Maps is capable of displaying an aerial photo of virtually any property on planet earth.
And yes, that very likely includes your very own home or place of business.
That means you can easily take a look at your property and see it the same way you would see it if you were flying high above the earth in an airplane.
What’s more, you can also zoom in and see what your place looks like up close!
Just follow the steps below that match your device to see an actual aerial photo of your property.
If you’re using a laptop or desktop computer:
1 – Click here to visit the Google Maps website.
2 – Type your physical address (i.e. your street address) into the Search box, then click the magnifying glass icon.
3 – Select your address from the list of search results. The map should now zoom in to show the address you entered above.
4 – Click the satellite image thumbnail down at the bottom to view the aerial photo of your property.
5 – Either scroll your mouse wheel forward or press the + (plus) key on your keyboard to zoom in as far as you like.
Note: If you zoom in far enough you should see a close-up view of your own property from above.
To zoom back out simply scroll your mouse wheel backwards or press the – (minus) key on your keyboard.
If you’re using a mobile device:
1 – Open the Google Maps app.
2 – Type your physical address (i.e. your street address) into the Search box, then select your address from the list of search results.
3 – Tap the icon denoted by the arrow in this screenshot:
4 – Tap Satellite.
5 – Tap any part of the satellite image to bring it to the front. You should now see a blue circle marking the exact address you entered above on an aerial photo.
6 – Use the “reverse pinch” technique to zoom in on the aerial photo for a closer view of your property.
That’s all there is to it. Pretty cool, right?
By the way, there are lots of other awesome things you can do with Google Maps well.
For example, you can get turn-by-turn driving directions to virtually any destination and/or find nearby restaurants and hotels, to name just a couple.
