If you’ve been thinking about dipping your toes into the Linux world, now is the perfect time to get started. For a limited time, the Linux Foundation is offering their outstanding $99 “Introduction to Linux” course for free!
“Introduction to Linux” covers the basics of the Linux operating system. You’ll learn how to use the GUI (Graphical User Interface) as well as the command line to perform many common Linux tasks. You’ll also get hands-on training in several of the most useful Linux-based applications.
The only prerequisite to taking this course is basic familiarity with computers in general. Experienced Windows and Mac users will do just fine.
It is strongly recommended that you have Linux installed on your computer and ready to go when the classes begin. Personally, I think Ubuntu Linux is a great choice. Click here to learn more about installing it on your computer.
Note: You do not have to wipe out your Windows installation to install Ubuntu Linux. You can install it in a dual-boot configuration and boot your computer into either Windows or Linux as needed.
If you prefer not to install Linux on your computer at this time, you can still take the course by running Ubuntu from a Live CD.
As mentioned earlier, you can audit this awesome course for free, but if you want to receive a certificate you can opt to pay the $99 enrollment fee. The choice is yours, and either way you’ll have complete access to the entire course and its various materials.
