When disaster strikes, one of the first things we all try to do is contact our family and friends to let them know we’re ok – and make sure they are too.
What typically happens in situations like this is the cell towers get clogged up with all those frantic voice calls and text messages, making it difficult for many folks to get through to their loved ones. Not a good thing!
Well, now there’s an easier way to reach out to others in an emergency. A wonderful free service from Microsoft called HelpBridge makes it easy to contact all of your family members and friends immediately – and all at the same time – when you’re caught up in a disaster. Here’s how it works:
1 – You install the free HelpBridge app on your mobile device.
2 – You add the cell phone numbers and/or email addresses of all of your family members and friends to your emergency contacts list.
3 – When disaster strikes, you log in to the app and instantly send a text message and/or email to everyone on your emergency contacts list at once. It also posts a message to your Facebook Timeline at the same time. What’s more, it even includes your current GPS location if you have GPS enabled on your phone!
HelpBridge is absolutely free, and it’s very easy to install and set up. You can read more about it and download the free HelpBridge app from this page on the Microsoft website.
