If you own an Apple mobile device, there’s a good chance that you can now update it to iOS 7.1. And even though the version number of the operating system only went from 7 to 7.1, this is no minor upgrade!
In addition to squashing a host of irritating and dangerous bugs, iOS 7.1 also enhanced several existing features while adding one big new one that’s sure to draw a lot of attention: native support for CarPlay.
Previously known as “iOS in the Car”, CarPlay supports iPhone calling, maps, messaging and music while allowing drivers to control several important functions hands-free via Siri (iOS’s native voice-activated assistant).
The iOS 7.1 update is available for users of the iPhone 4 and later, iPad 2 and later, plus iPod Touch (5th generation) devices.
To see if the iOS 7 update is available for your device, tap Settings>General>Software Update.
