Today’s featured tech tip….
How to choose between multiple Internet service options
Until recently the only currently available option in many areas of the US was traditional satellite Internet, but SpaceX’s Starlink has now made fast broadband Internet available in the vast majority of the United States.
Since you now have multiple Internet providers to choose from you might be wondering which type of service to choose. Here are my recommendations (in order from first choice to last):
1 – Fiber Internet – (Typically the fastest, and most reliable option at the moment in the limited areas where it’s available)
2 – Cable Internet – (Not as fast as most available fiber Internet plans, but pretty close in some areas)
3 – Starlink Satellite Internet (Currently not as fast as fiber or cable, but it’s available virtually anywhere in the US)
4 – Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) Internet – (Ranges from slightly faster than dial-up to the slowest of the cable tiers, depending on the level of service that’s available in your area)
5 – Traditional Satellite Internet – (Download speeds that are comparable to lower-tier cable Internet plans, but with high latency and absurdly low effective data usage limits)
Truth be told, any of the first three options are preferable to DSL and traditional satellite Internet. If you have at least two of those options available to you, congrats.

Rick’s Daily Pick…
Dell Inspiron 15 3525 15.6″ Laptop
I featured this laptop in a previous issue of this newsletter but I goofed by posting the wrong link. Several readers asked me to feature it again, so here you go.
This machine has a speedy CPU plus plenty of RAM and SSD storage space. If you’re looking for something better than an entry level laptop, but still affordable, I believe this one would be a good choice.
Today’s post from ‘My Daily Smile’…
Video: Which wolf will you feed?
Impressive.
Tech news that caught my eye…
• Kaspersky Lab closing U.S. division and laying off workers
• YouTube Music’s latest features include ‘hum to search’ and more
• AT&T reportedly paid small fortune for hacker to delete stolen data
• New quantum computer breaks Google’s quantum supremacy record by 100-fold
• Google and Microsoft now each consume more power than some fairly big countries
