How to copy photos and other files from one PC to another
Need to transfer your photos and other important files from one Windows PC to a second PC?
I’ve found that the best way to do that is to first copy all the files from the first PC onto an external USB hard drive and then copy them from there onto the second PC. Here’s how:
1 – Plug the external drive into the first PC and open a “File Explorer” window (just press the Windows+E key combination).
2 – Open the external drive in the File Explorer window you just opened.
3 – Open a second File Explorer window and navigate to a folder containing files you want to copy to the second PC.
4 – Drag the selected folder onto the external hard drive (just press the left mouse button and drag the folder over).
5 – Release the mouse button to “drop” the folder onto the external drive.
6 – Repeat the steps above until you have copied all the folders you want to copy to the second PC onto the external hard drive.
7 – Drag any individual files you want to move onto the external drive.
8 – Unplug the external drive from the first PC and connect it to the second PC.
9 – Open two File Explorer windows on the second PC and drag the folders and individual files from the external hard drive onto the second PC (pay attention to where you’re dropping the folders and files to ensure they’ll end up where you need them).
